May 28 - 29, 2026
97 Newbury Street, Boston, MA 02116

In celebration of the Boston 2026 World Stamp Expo, American Ancestors invites visitors to explore a special display of stamp and mail related archival materials within the Family Heritage Experience, our state-of-the-art interactive exhibition that explores family origins, traditions, identity, and connection across generations.

Drawn from the R. Stanton Avery Special Collections at American Ancestors, this temporary display highlights the many ways letters, stamps, seals, and envelopes have preserved personal stories throughout history.

Whether you are interested in postal history, genealogy, communication, or the stories preserved in everyday objects, this special display offers a unique opportunity to experience history through the written word.

On View

Visitors to the display will encounter the following historical materials:

  • Civil War and World War I era letters and envelopes
  • Historic postcards
  • A stamp collection from 1898, assembled by Susan M Leverich

Together, these materials offer a glimpse into how people communicated across distances, documented important moments, and maintained family and community connections long before the digital age.

This special display is available Thursday, May 28th - Friday, May 29th from 10:00 AM - 6:00 PM.
